I didn’t do it.

Tonight I ran the most angry 3.0 miles I’ve run in a long time. 27:21. Angry. I wish the massage woman was at the gym because I really needed one. I probably would have paid for a full 30 minutes this time ($1/minute, adds up quickly).

I returned my rental car today and they told me the front end was damaged. I went out to look and sure enough the driver’s side fog lamp was pushed in, along with a portion of the bumper. I don’t remember looking at it when I preinspected the car. Its a Pontiac Grand Prix. Looks just like this one.

If you took that fog lamp area and pushed inward, that’s what the damage looks like.

I never hit a thing. Nothing hit me. There’s no way it happened while I was in the car. Maybe someone hit the car in a parking lot somewhere. No idea.

I wish I had looked down there when I preinspected. Everyone was in a rush because they were closing and this car had just been brought in. I figured the guy had just looked at it already so I didn’t look too closely. I wish I had looked right there to know if it happened before I got the car.

I took a few pictures of it on the way home tonight since I was going by the rental place anyway. Just for records and all.

One more headache to deal with. Yeah.

Tomorrow is rest day (and Chocolate Friday). I was planning on taking tomorrow off since the boss is gone for the day and I am now in waiting mode for things at work. Best time to take vacation is when things won’t pile on your desk. Now I get to spend the day dealing with insurance and stuff like that.

How was your day, Honey?

Yikes! It sounds like someone hit the car when it was parked. I HATE it when people do that (someone crunched in my bumper when my car was parked in front of my house - but they didn’t notify me, the squirrely cowards) and don’t own up to it. There’s also the chance that the car was already that way when you rented it. I would contest having to pay for the damage.

Suck. I hope that gets resolved soon. They’re such blood suckers at rental places. What percent dark chocolate are you into? For me, it’s anything over 75% the better…

You know what happened to me (car-crash-wise)? I bumped into someone’s brand new white Volvo last winter (I had gotten a driven’s license two months earlier-and yes I’m 29 yrs old) at a supermarket’s parking lot. I panicked and called my hubby who told me to get the licence plate number and call the license registry office. I got the owner’s name and phone number and called him - I was sure he would be furious and make me to pay for a new car, and I was making calculations in my head how much I would be able to pay per month for the next 3-5 years. But no - he was so surprised that I called that he asked me to pay 50EUR (about 60USD I guess) so he could buy a bucket of paint and re-paint the left side…And he thanked me for being so honest and responsible. The whole incident totally re-established my faith in human race! And no, I haven’t driven a car since so don’t worry, I won’t be wrecking your nice vehicles in a parking lot :D
Sorry Jon for stealing your post…Buy for now!

That happened to me when I went to Newfoundland last time. They hit me up for a ruined tire and rim. They charged $500, and I asked, “Are you buying FOUR tires?” Nope, just one. I was crabby, because even on my car, I don’t have $2000 in tires.

Sucky car rentals, I know they don’t check their vechicles well when rent it out so you have to point out everything to them and walk around it twice making sure they have it marked down. You could probably contest it - they might not be very certain it was not there before hand. I hope it gets resolved without too much stress.

How was your day, Honey? Gee, Dear, thanks for asking! It sucked but not as bad as yours. The phone rang and rang all day long. Sorry someone was such a coward and ran off after hitting the rental car…just another reason I take the bus or ride my bike.

That’s so frustrating. From the other side of things, my husband works at a car rental place and they make the customers themselves inspect the cars beforehand. People return cars to them all the time that have been dented or in accidents and they always claim that they had no idea anything happened. Then if they didn’t buy the rental company’s insurance, the company screws them with a $1500 deductible to repair the damage. There’s a lot of bad faith on both sides; it’s quite a shady business (I hope my husband doesn’t work there forever because it’s an awful job!). Sorry you had to deal with that!
