The half-flu tried for a comeback.

Had a really good day sledding with the cubscouts. The sledding hill was a little too heavily staffed for safety reasons but we had some good runs anyway. No injuries. No concusions. Hot chocolate and cookies too. I only had one Oreo.

I noticed while I was out there that I was very tired. More tired that I would expect since I had only done about 6 runs down the hill. And I’m a runner. ;) No seriously, I just wanted to drop.

When I got home, I layed down and my face felt like it was burning, and I thought it was from the cold. Nope. 102.8. WTF?! That was days ago and I was over the half-flu! Took my Tylenol and whined a little bit. My darling wife was willing to go out grocery shopping for me, even though she felt awful too. By the time bedtime came around, I was cooled down again.

This AM I ran my 5 miles. It probably wasn’t very smart given last night’s problem, but I need my miles. Everything went ok though. It was really warm, in the 30’s and so I was waaaaay over dressed. I started opening jackets and taking off gloves after mile 2. Made it back in one piece but I was struggling around mile 4. I think I’m not really back up to full strength yet.

Next week is the Valentine’s Day 5K and I want to run in it. Just a fun run but there’s a drawing for prizes and the club that does it is really nice. We’ll see how I feel this week. Its possible I may just go splat.

And I read Mark’s post about syncronicity and had just the most amazing apostrophe (“I think you mean an epiphany.”) about it. It was so very cool and philisophical too. And I kinda lost it all because I was thinking of it while falling asleep. It will come back to me though. Just wait.

And last but not least, please take a look what Mark has done with the Running Blog Family Directory. It tells you what has been updated recently too. If you have a link to it already, update because this one is new. Nice job, Mark!

Thanks a whack Jon and I’m really looking forward to your epiphany. An epiphany is exactly what I had also!

Only one Oreo? I would have eaten ten! :)

Doesn’t running up the hill with a sled count as “Hill Training”? It does in my books and after how you have been feeling, today sounds like quite a workout. Funny I also found myself asking, how could you of all people stop at one Oreo?!?!?! :-)

Only one Oreo? Then you must of drank like 10 cups of hot chocolate to balance that out…

Oh, and your brother says “You don’t weight 169 pounds!”

I think going up a sled hill when you’re sick counts is equivalent of running much miles. only 1 Oreo - that aint normal.

I’m impressed you ran 5 miles so soon after being sick. I’m still coughing up half a lung, but getting my energy back. I’m still trying to figure out how to reply to comments on my blog. It seems that you have a feature on your blog where you can easily click a button and reply. Hmm. Gotta install that on my little bloggie. And yes, now looking for a half-marathon in the next month to run - gotta burn off the choc-chip cookies I’ve been eating.

It just shows you how much energy kids have. They probably weren’t even sore the next day and they prob did 20 runs!! Ahhh, youth is wasted on the young!!
