Chilly Willy

Did my 5 mile run yesterday. Actually, it turned out to be 6 miles. I was feeling depressed from missing my 3 miler so I added one more to make up for it. 56 minutes and change, which ended up coming out to 9:17 pace. I had a hard time keeping the right pace. I found that once you do a little speed training, you want to naturally run too fast for the workout. I end up picking up the pace too much and really messing up what I am doing. Slow. Steady.

And it was damn cold. 12F I think I saw on the thermometer, but there a bit of a breeze so I froze my face off. I had major frost on the mustache. Next time I am bringing a scarf. I think I need to buy some running pants. The wind just whips right through my cotton sweats and the tights are helping much. Time to head to the sport shops and see if I can get some stuff on clearance.

Today is stretch and strength day. I’ve been slack on the weights lately and I think it is seriously affecting the running. Need to get back into those soon. I think today I am just supposed to do upper body.

Is it time for breakfast yet?

Sometimes it pays to plan your runs around the weather. Yesterday was -14c and today its +4c/39F.Boy am I glad I delayed my long run one more day. Nice to see others do run in the cold. :-)

Ever since I started dressing “appropriately,” my runs have been warmer. Until today. But that’s a different story:)
