Not so good, but getting better.

Its been a rough 4 days. Can’t really get into details but alot of things have been piling up. Things are moving back on track now though. Sorry if I haven’t been visiting blogs much or responding to email.

No running since Thursday. My shins still hurt. My right leg is not painful anymore, maybe a little sore but that’s it. I think it needed a rest. So do I. I don’t sleep well these days, and think I haven’t slept well in years. I need a good nap sofa in the basement where I can go and take a nap if I need it. I think I also need a small matress in the truck to nap during lunch time.

In some cool news, you might remember from my Hell-o-ween race report that I had mentioned another running near the end of my race; well I found her by accident on the web. I was Googling for the Ann Arbor Turkey Trot and came across her race report. She mentioned the Hell-o-ween and, after seeing her time, I knew it had to be her (we were about 10 seconds apart I think). She had posted a link to her pic and that confirmed it. She ran both the 10K and the 5K at the Turkey Trot (Iron Turkey), and she’s done more running that I have. Lots of races in her past and future. Very cool. Just the fun news I needed to lift me out of my funk. :)

In other news, Paula Radcliffe is publishing a book. You can read an exerpt from it here that talks about what happened in Athens. Can’t wait for it to come out. (Can you tell she’s one of my heroes?) :)

Sorry things are piling up, Jon. Hey, enjoy your rest and Thanksgiving. I’ll bet you’ve got chocolate planned somewhere in there:)

  2. Richard says:

All that buildup and you don’t link to her website? Hmm… Interesting. Glad to hear that your funk is defunkifying.

  3. Deene says:

Hi Jon. Welcome back from funk land.

  4. I MISSED YOU! Welcome back. Glad you were able to claw your way out of the pile.

Funktastic! Glad you’re feeling better. I’m running the local Turkey Trot and looking forward to it. In related news, I just read something about how dark chocolate and red wine help you heal after long training runs. SIGN ME UP.

What you need is more chocolate and less running.

hang in there brotha. happy thanksgiving!

  8. Thanks, everyone!

Susan – Thanks, hopefully the pile is getting smaller on the side I can’t see just yet. Uh, and too much chocolate already the past few days. :(

Richard – Boy, its a tough crowd here! :D Ok, smarty pants, here’s the link to her Hell-o-ween report, and here’s the link to her Iron Turkey report.

Deene – Thanks! Its nice to be back, or at the very least, getting close to the border.

Pamalamajama – “Pile” is about right. Still clawing but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel (no it is not the headlight of the oncoming train).

tracy – Turkey Trots abound! That the my first race ever, way back in high school. I don’t count it as a PR because I wasn’t really a runner then. ;) Dark chocolate and red wine? I think I would fall right over!

Beth – Wuhl yeah! Actually, there are atleast 5 pounds less chocolate in the house now than there was 4 days ago. Oddly enough, my scale says I weigh 5 pounds more. Um, maybe for this week, more running, less chocolate. ;)

Brent – I’m holdin’ as best I can. :) Have a great holiday!

If YOU ate the chocolate, then it’s still technically in the house then isn’t it? :)
