Feeling better now
Well, my legs feel better but my voice is still gone. Still have residual soreness in my calves but my quads are happy today. The calves aren’t so bad that I am limping now, just sore. I think I will be fit for a light run tomorrow.
This morning I was practicing my posture for ChiRunning. Its interesting how far off I am from straight posture when it feels like I am standing straight. One exercise they have you do is get your posture straight (described in the book) in front of a mirror. Then close your eyes and focus on keeping it straight for two minutes. When you done, make sure it feels like it is straight, then open your eyes and look at your posture. Amazingly, I was way out of wack.
I think that is a major part of having good form, is teaching your body to sense again where and how it is positioned. I know there is a fancy schmancy bio term for it, but there is an ability in all of us to know the position of our hand, even when our arm is stretched out behind us and we can’t see it. But its all based on reference points in your mind. If the reference drifts a little, you lose a good sense of body positioning.
So this is what I work on while I am resting.
I’m also trying to understand Blogrolling. I don’t get it yet, but I will soon. I’m not so sure its any better than just listing the links on your page. Anyway, I put the “blogroll me” thing on the links list because its supposed to make it easier for people to bookmark your page if they have Blogrolling. And when I figure out what I am doing, then I will be able to use it to put other links on my page, although the links setup with WordPress seems to be pretty good as it is.
Ok, so that’s a short post about nothing really important because I’m not running yet and I haven’t done a dmna thing in the past two days.
Oh wait, one more thing. My son’s cubscout pack is having a “Bake Off” next month. Everyone makes something and they auction them off in the pack. The money goes to the pack and its silly because its all our own money, but it makes it more fun and we all get to eat goodies afterwards. Guess what we are going to make? Chocolate truffles. Will be passing on the techniques to my son and encouraging him NOT to lick his hands!
And speaking of goodies, that junk is off Jon’s food list for a while because he seems to have put on 6 pounds in the past several months with all this running and snacking and lots of other stuff that he thought he needed but apparently did not. That’s one thing I never did get under control when I started running: food volume. I eat pretty healthy stuff (ok, the Healthy Choice devil’s food cookies and the fig newtons were not so good), but the volume seems a little high. I got hungrier when running and didn’t take care to watch it. Now the scale is screaming and so is my belt. This isn’t helping my goal to be totally ripped by next summer.
PS
Oh yeah, and the Chicago Hilton tried to charge me for one of the nights I had reserved for the marathon. Always keep your confirmation and cancellation number until the charges clear.

I’m sure there will come a time when I stop losing weight from all this exercise my body’s getting. I think it’s because I didn’t do anything for the last 32 years that it’s just showing total gratitude by losing - still, despite the burgers & the booze & the buns - about a pound a week.
