A quick morning run

My wife has an MD appointment today so I’m home from work to watch the munchkin. I did my run this morning at the park because my son has cub scouts tonight so no gym time available.

I was very proud of myself for getting out there by 7:30 after being up so late last night. I’m not a very good morning person and its all I can do to get myself ready for work. I was the first car in the parking lot at the park :)

It wasa chilly 40F this AM again. I guess fall is here. Did we even have a summer? Lots of low hanging fog in the woods. Chipmunks everywhere.

4.5 miles at a slower pace. 42:40 for my time. My left lower shin is sore in that one little spot. Make me nervous. It feels like a bruise. I worry because a specific location for pain like that can mean a…I’m not going to say it but you know what I’m thinking.

I had two bananas and a little gatorade before the run, but nothing to drink during the run. It was so cold I wasn’t sweating much anyway. I need to make sure I note my clothing selection in my running log. If its this cold in October for the Hell-o-ween, then I can dress like this and be pretty comfortable. Unless I find a good costume :)

Short post today.

Jon, that second pair of shoes MIGHT be a bit old depending how um, er old (as in months) they are?

You also might be interested to know that I’ve got a bit of a shin splint now too. It just appeared in the last week. For me, that means old shoes (nope) or it’s been a tough pounding couple of weeks (yup).

I’m tapering as of Sept. 30 - next Thursday so it’ll get 10 days to mend itself before M-day.
