I need a plan!
I really, really need a training plan. I’m drifting aimlessly now without a marathon goal. I’d put one together but its all governed by how my leg feels. It would look like this:
Sun - crosstrain
Mon - rest
Tues - run until it hurts, lift weights
Wed - cross train, lift some more
Thurs - run until it hurts
Fri - rest
Sat - run until it hurts
Rinse and repeat.
I hate this.
OK, that plan is starting to look good as I sit here reading it in Blogger’s draft mode. Having a bad plan is better than having no plan. So, today I will, uh, run until it hurts, then lift some weights. I would like to run at least 4 miles, but that depends on the knee and also if the gym is crowded. There’s a 30 minute time limit on the machines, but if nobody is there, I can stretch it by 10 minutes if I need to (my usual 10:00 pace). Unless I run a 7:30 pace. That should do it. No problem. 30 minutes exactly. Not counting CPR and ambulance time. ;)
I have a plan.
The CRIM is now 11 dyas away. My max mileage is 4 miles as of Sunday. Current odds of me making it to the race are 5:1 against. I really, really want to run it because people I know will be there and I’ve paid my money, and I want the T-shirt, and the snacks should be good. We’ll see.
