Sweet run

I ran 1.7 miles on the ‘mill this AM and it felt great! I did the first 3/4 mile or so at the 10:00 pace, then I moved it up to 7:50. Somewhere I had read that faster speeds irritated the ITB less because of the angle of your leg when it strikes the ground. It actually felt great to run fast. I know people always say “it feels so good to run fast” but I never really felt it like that. It always felt good afterwards to have run that fast. This time while I was running it felt really good.

Then I got paranoid. Was that a twinge in my knee? Is it getting tight or just tired? Maybe I should stop. Maybe my legs are just tired. Should I stop? Ok. Let’s stop.

So I stopped and walked the last .3 miles to cool down. No pain from the ITB. Shins, ofcourse, were sore but I really didn’t care. They are very susceptable to Chris’s “shut up!” dialog technique. The ITB shouts louder than me though ;)

I did my full upper and lower body weight training. Went up on alot of things, some stuff stayed even. Leg ab- and ad-ductors went way up. I really pushed them so that I was working hard at the end of the set. I still made the 15 reps so those weights go up next time too. On my left side I can really feel it in my gluteus medius. I think this is working.

While I was doing my abductor lifting, there was a woman next to me on the same machine doing hers. She did an awful lot of reps so I glanced down to see what she was lifting. She was almost to my goal lifting weight. If she wasn’t doing 20 reps, she’d be there. I’d say she was in her mid 60’s. I have the abductors of a 4-year old. New goal: triple my abductor strength.

Question for Running Chick in an Orange Hat. Do you wear the brim pulled down really, really low? It seems like when women at the gym wear baseball hats, they always have the brim pulled down so its on their nose. Why is that?

After the gym, my son and I went and looked for another geocache. This one was at another park very close to the gym. My son spotted it under a pile of sticks. Not much in it but it was a fun hunt anyway. He took a green army man.

Along the train I found small pieces of multicolored yarn laid on branches along the path. Sometimes they were layed on a log along the trail. It made me think someone was leaving a path for someone to follow.

My feet shrunk again. They got bigger when I was running but now they shrunk and my feet are kinda loose inside my shoes.

I’m not sure what to do tomorrow. Maybe crosstraining? The legs will be sore form lifting. Maybe a very small run and then my hour of crosstraining.
