I am totally whipped
Or should that say “wimped”.
I spent yesterday guiding the cub scouts around the scout camp during their Wild West Day Camp. I think I walked about 47 miles. On the way to camp we found what looked like a Spotted Turtle in the road and we stopped on the moved him to the side he was heading to. Thanked with a loud his from the grumpy thing.
The kids had alot of fun at camp but it was like herding cats, some are really slow and some are running down the trail out of sight. “Stay out of the poison ivy!” “Don’t hit people with sticks!” “If we run to the latrine do you think you can make it?”
I was very certain we were going to have at least 1 punctured child at the archery range but oddly enough that’s the one place that we didn’t have trouble. Lunch wasn’t until noon and we almost had a mutany. Whoever is walking the kids today had better bring a snack with them.
On the way home we found the same darn turtle heading the same way on the road. This time we picked him up (more hissing) and brought him to the Metropark and set him down in a nice wetland area. On leaving I noticed that all the bike/running trails were closed for repaving. Bummer.
So about 8 o’clock last night I staggered to the gym and got on the ‘mill for my two easy miles, since I couldn’t go right next door to the park. My legs were sore, especially my shins. My ankles, my knees, my shins, my calves. They hurt just sitting down. A dull pain throughout my whole lower legs. I guess the day camp was more of a workout than I thought. The good news was my heart rate was still very low. It peaked out at 146 and never went higher.
My Forerunner has been shipped! So 5-9 days from now it will be arriving and I will be totally hard core wired for serious running. I may even get new shades :)
