3.0 miles, heartrates

Three miles on the treadmill last night. 10:00 pace. I was wathcing my heart rate during the run more this time and saw that it stayed below 150 until I hit 1.8 miles. Then it stayed below 157 the rest of the time. Actually, I think it only spiked to 157 momentarily and stayed in the lower 150’s mostly. I think this is good. I think in the past it has crept up into the low 160’s, but that may have been outdoors on small hills and stuff.

My calves felt a little tight, but not really painful. I think they’ve been waiting for my rest day (today!). Also, the stepper kind of pushes them a little bit so they may be tired from that on Sunday.

Less than two weeks left of my recovery training, finishing with the D-AA 5K. Then Chicago training begins! I’m a little apprehensive about it because I have traveling to do this year so I’m not sure where I will work out. Checking ahead, I’ve found a hotel with a gym and track nearby, but other places are not arranged so nicely. Fortunately, those trips are placed during setback weeks, so if the mileage is low, it won’t hit me so hard. The 20 miler is still while I am home which is where I really need to be for that (ice bath is closer).

I’ve been digging up dates for races during training and I’ve found a 1/2 marathon and a 10K that I think will fit the plan well. Need to post those links when I have a moment.
