Guess what this is

Yup, damn ugly but still the source of my favorite oh so wonderful confection. This is in a Botanical Garden. This one is actually in “the field”.

Lots of colors and shapes depending on where they are and what type. Three main ones: Forestero (most bulk stuff comes from this easily grown and hardy variety)
Trinitario (more flavor and still very disease resistant)
Criollo (most flavorful and desireable, but very sensistive to disease)
Where does most of it come from? Ivory Coast and Ghana, but most of your flavor beans are coming from South America.
