Charity
I’ve been thinking about running for charity in Chicago. I don’t know why but sometimes I get that “what’s the point” feeling about running. What the heck are you running for? At my age, I’m not going to set any records or win any big prizes. I’ll be lucky to finish. But if I am raising money for a worthy cause, then maybe its all worthwhile.
I was looking at the American Cancer Society, because they are one of the official sponsors and cancer has affected so many lives than I know. Breast Cancer runs in my wife’s family. My friend’s mother died a few months ago of cancer. My coworker’s family has cancer all through it. I’ve known so many people that have lost a loved one to cancer I can’t believe that we all aren’t running for the cure for cancer in the next marathon.
Here’s their website *click* where they describe their whole process. They even give you a web page for people to come donate directly. No money need be sent to you, but you can if you want.
I think this is what I’m going to do.
