I ran 2 miles last night. I was still pretty sore from Saturday. I don’t want to push it this week. Not this week. More rest. More ice for the shins. Hot bath for the hip? Race day is coming. Did I mention I was excited?

Higdon says to flip flop the Saturday and Sunday workouts as needed. The only problem is that you don’t have the rest day following the long run. I’m going to rest today because 1) my calves hurt, 2) I can’t lift my left leg very high, and 3) well, I don’t have a number three [...]

I did my 10 mile long run at the park today. The farthest I’ve ever run in my whole entire life! 10 miles! 10 MILES!!!!!!! It was probably my hardest run ever too. The last 4 miles were pretty hard. My left hip was hurting and by the time I got to mile 9, it [...]

All the talk in Higdon’s book and on the V-board about food makes me think about food all day long. Talking about needing to eat more, and eat your pasta, and try the gummy sharks, and get some Gu, or power gel, and gatorade/accelerade/I-need-to-pee-from-drinking-all-this-stuff-ade. Now I just want to eat everything in the whole damn [...]

I did an hour of cross/cardio last night, reading Hal Higdon’s book Marathon. If that doesn’t get you psyched up to race, I don’t know what will. I’m making an executive decision (seeing as I’m the only one on the executive board) to take today as a rest day. My shins are starting to act [...]

My shins are a little sore this AM but I think I’ve recovered pretty well after yesterday’s rest. I just checked the Martian Marathon page and the pre-registration list is up and I’m on it. No worries about that then. I just want my T-shirt :) Schedule says 5 miles today. We’ll see how I [...]

…can me keep from running outside like a damn fool. Today’s long run was 9 miles! A new record for me! I ran at the park which has some wicked hills, so I don’t feel too badly running at an 11:00 pace. Well, I take that back. I do feel badly because I feel like [...]

I ran 5 miles tonight. 3 on the treadmill at 5 mph and 2 on the track at about 6 mph (10:00 pace). I tried to keep a slow easy pace, but when I get on the track, it just feels more natural to do a 10:00 pace. I want my training paces to have [...]

I actually needed to leave the gym by 6:00 not 6:45. It worked out the same since my lower legs were still pretty sore. I needed another day to really rest. I did a light jog for 2 miles and did alot of stretching again. Cold tap water bath tonight with ibuprofin. This time (instead [...]
