Official time

My official time was 2:10:17 with a pace of 9:57. Perfect. My goal was 10:00 and we just about nailed it. Thank goodness Lily was pushing it in the second half or I wouldn’t have made it. We probably lost time on the hill, and the 9:30 miles helped make up for it.

Overall I placed 348 out of 559 in the half marathon, and I finished 37th out of 45 in my age group. Near the back of the pack BUT not at the bottom like the 5K :) There were 190 in the full marathon, so 749 registered runners. There were probably alot that ran as a training run, like Lily did. Close to my estimate of 1000 (although I was thinking more like 2000 during the race).

The last finisher in the full marathon came in at 6:43:11! Almost seven hours of running! I can just imagine the cheering when he finally crossed the finish line. They should have a special medal for folks that spend over 6 hours on the race. I’m hoping for that kind of drive in Chicago.

If you look down the list of names, you can see people running together because they have identical times and they come from the same town. Very cool.
