Is it only Thursday?
Its been an easy two days. Tues night I did a lot of walking to help loosen stuff up. Shins were sore and so was my hip. Did 20 minutes in the hot tub. I figured it is far enough away from Saturday that it would probably help rather than increase inflammation. I was right and things are feeling better.
I also did the full set of anti-shin splint exercises on Tuesday night, counting on three days of recovery to build back up. My shins were sore yesterday but feeling good today.
No running yesterday. Higdon says 2 miles and I was concerned that if I wasn’t 100%, I’d just fall back a day. I hate being on the edge of injured like this. As an alternative I did 30 minutes of biking. No stress on the shins and keeps my cardio levels up.
Now I get two days to sit on my butt and get even fatter than I have gotten on this program. Lots of stretching in the plan, and plenty of sleep.
TWO more days!
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that its been freezing cold for almost all my long runs and now it will be 60F for the race. Great. So all the clothes I had planned to wear (ie trained in) are going to be waaaaay too hot. Do I dare change to a different shirt material without testing it on the long run? Everything I read says “no”.
