5 miles, chinese food, and big shoes
I ran 5 miles tonight. 3 on the treadmill at 5 mph and 2 on the track at about 6 mph (10:00 pace). I tried to keep a slow easy pace, but when I get on the track, it just feels more natural to do a 10:00 pace. I want my training paces to have my heart rate near 145, but when I start moving at a 10:00 pace, it moves up to around the low 150’s.
I tried altering my running style and land more near the ball of my foot and not on my heel. Seemed to do ok. No major pain tonight and I think I could have easily gone longer. We’ll see. 9 miles scheduled for Sunday.
Don’t eat chinese food for lunch if you are running that night. The stuff just stays right there in your stomach and you’ll be burping Kung Pao Chicken for the first 4 miles.
I ran in my new size 12 shoes tonight. Sweet! No blisters on the toes anymore and my feet had plenty of room to stretch. Plenty of time to break them in before race day too.
In other bad news, I’m feeling a cold coming on. I will not relinquish my body to another damn virus! I’m taking extra Vitamin C, folic acid, echanacia (or however you spell that crap), and eating lots of veggies. I am healthy! Viruses, get the hell out!
REST DAY TOMORROW!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
