Rest day!

Friday, January 9th, 2004

Friday is rest day! Did I mention that Friday is my favorite day?
Yesterday I did 3.0 miles, 1% grade, 6.0 mph. I had to use one of the crappy treadmills because the gym was packed with New Year’s resolution people and all the little college kids who were shocked to go home over [...]

Maybe I should have done cross training instead.

Thursday, January 8th, 2004

Missed posting last night. I ran 2.0 miles instead of crosstraining (option day). This morning I am damn tired, I don’t know why. Tonight I have 3.0 miles and strength. I’m thinking the crosstraining might have been better last night.
A young woman was running next to me last night. She [...]

I miss my good shoes.

Monday was stretch/strength day. I use these days for upperbody work mostly, but [...]

One more day till training starts

Today was crosstraining day. 15 minutes on the Gauntlet, 10 minutes of bike, 5 minutes on the stepper. Actually, crosstraining is a pretty light day.
2.7 miles (or was it 2.5?) tomorrow. Then Monday I officially start my training.

Weights!

Friday, January 2nd, 2004

Gotta love weight lifting. Maybe its the tangible proof of strength or just moving heavy plates around but there’s something about lifting that screams fitness. Damn good stuff.
I did only one set for each exercise, trying to max out at 15 reps. I did the legs too, which may not have been [...]

Ah! The great outdoors!

Thursday, January 1st, 2004

I ran 2.7 miles outside at the Metropark today. It was a brisk 40F just before sunset. Actually, it was not too bad. There were gentle hills but it seemed pretty easy. My face was a little cold but the rest of me warmed up pretty quickly. I think running [...]
