Why must I be tortured?

All I want to do is run. I want to run and follow my schedule and be able to finish the 1/2 marathon. Somehow, the rest of the world doesn’t want me to do that.

Tonight, I was supposed to run 3.0 miles at an easy pace. When I got to the gym at 6:30pm it was packed more full than I had ever seen it. The lot was jammed, the lockers were all taken, and the machines were full.

Can you guess why? (rant mode: on)

Because the gym owner (we’ll call him “Mark”) is running one of his mindless campaign where he gives away hundred of free 12 day passes, hoping that people will want to join his gym after spending 12 days fighting the crowds at an overcrowded sweathole. The gym was packed full of all those college students that stand around talking and flirting and then spend 20 minutes, furiously trying to burn off all the beer they’ve been guzzling all semester long.

The only saving grace is that the current promotion ends at the end of the month. (rant mode: off)

Needless to say, I did not get my run in. I did 30 minutes of cross training and so I guess I can switch with tomorrow’s workout. I don’t like changing the schedule. I like it to be consistent. Damn it. This is not obsessive. It s just that I want it the way I want it.

Uh, I was sure I hit the off button for the rant mode.
