Photo of the Week: And the Sign Says…

What motivates you when your in a race be it a triathlon or running event? Do the signs of your friends and family keep you going or distract you?

The photo is a collage of signs myself and Karen’s family made to keep her going during the Alberta Challenge Triathlon. Karen was competing in her first Olympic Triathlon. More photos from the event available over at my Flickr site and you can read about the event on Karen’s Blog or mine.

Got a photo you would like featured? Then leave a comment with the details. Thanks for dropping by.

  1. I LOVE the signs. I love them even when they aren’t for me. I love the ones that say “Go Mom” as if they were for me. I love the ones that make you laugh like “Puke Zone” or “You AREN’T almost there; keep running.” I also love smiles, and high fives from everyone and anyone. Best of all if they’re from my FAMILY.

  2. I saw one at the 2007 Akron Marathon that said “Run Faster @$shole” It was the funniest thing I ever saw. It was around mile 2 which is the exact wrong time to try and run faster. Either way, it was fun.
There are also some signs that just have too much much stuff on them. At the Disney marathon Sharpie (the sponsor) had these factoid signs up. You had to slow down to read them. It was not so bad after the half way point of the marathon. That was mile 26 for the weekend and I was at just the right speed to make the signs read completely.
