Photo of the Week: Anyone Got a Shovel?
Posted by Dawn - Pink Chick Filed Under: PhotosWelcome to 2009! I hope you all had a good holiday season and are ready for a new year.
I’m not sure even a shovel would have helped the runners on this race course.
Saturday was the Nose Creek XC race in Calgary. We’ve had a lot of snow and well, try as I might, there was no way of setting up the race route without running it through deep snow at least once or twice. Oh yeah, I’m the Race Director. Thankfully, while it was termed “nasty” by at least one runner, most had a good laugh and slept well after a tough slog through a snowy, just over 7k route. Being a double loop route, those doing the 7k had to trudge through this 3 foot snow bank at least twice.
This photo comes to us courtesy of Kathy Taerum & the Calgary Roadrunners. Be sure to check out her other photos from the race. When I reviewed them, I laughed so hard I cried.
Got a photo you would like to share, leave a comment with the details.

I am SO glad I didn’t do that race…it looks like it would have been fun if you wore Goretex shoes, rubber pants and a down coat.

That is amazing. I ran in something close to that for a training run last year. It was was fantastic. I miss the snow. Here in Delaware they have shut down the schools for about an inch or snow.
Maybe next year I will have to give this a try.
