Photo of the Week: So What’s Your Excuse?

Posted by Filed Under: Photos

Seem’s lately the topic is excuses so this week’s featured photo seems rather fitting.

The alarm goes off, you shut if off, rollover and go back to sleep.
      You skip your run.

You look out the window and it’s pouring rain.
      You skip your run.

Wait, it’s Thursday and the last eposide of Survivor airs tonight.
      You skip your run.

Do these excuses sound familiar? Have you used any of them not to run? Perhaps you have a few more you could add to the list? Don’t be shy leave a comment with the excuses that have kept you from a scheduled run.

Last Thursday, a group of local runners wrote their excuses on large cards, tied them to a tree and ran off leaving their excuses behind. The idea was that of a good friend of mine, Karen. She created “Amnesty Excuse Night” as a great way of getting her running friends out for a fun evening and a good workout.

About Dawn - Pink Chick

For several years the only running I did was to run the annual 10k race in the spring. I got my best time when I ran hungover on only a few hours sleep. Finally one year I decided maybe I should really pick up running again on a regular basis and attended a running clinic. After finishing the 10k that year I continued to train and ran my first half marathon. That was in 2002. Later in 2002 I moved to Calgary where my running friends nick-named me Pink Lady, Pinko, Pinky and finally Pink Chick simply because I almost always wore pink when I ran. Truth be known I wear it almost all the time. I ran, well mostly walked, my first marathon in 2003. Since then I've run a ton of shorter 5/10k races, 9 half marathons and I added a second marathon in 2007 when I ran the San Diego RnR Marathon. Today I still run. I'm slow but I'm still out there and lovin' it. Someday I hope to join the Triathlon world.

    My daughters favorite.
“It’s raining. You aren’t supposed to run in the rain.”

You can insert “snow” in for rain. This is how she try’s to get out of going to races or the track with me. Arguing with your 5 year old about the joy of running in adverse conditions can be more fun that actually doing it.
Don’t tell her but sometimes she is right.
