Photo of the Week: Celebrating Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there. So how did you spend yesterday? Did you phone your Mom, have dinner with her or buy her something special. In my family we choose to celebrate the day in a slightly different way as did some 14,000 other people in Calgary. We celebrated it by running the Mother’s 5k Race. The event has both a 5 & 10k distance.
The above collage features photos from the start of the race where runners warmed up dancing to tunes then headed out across the start line. With a large crowd like that it likely took close to 10 minutes before the last runner got started. Lots of family run or walk the event with kids of all ages, many in strollers. At the end there is a long line of goodies to eat & drink. Each Mother is rewarded with a rose. Following the race there is a “little legs” event for the 0-6 year olds to enjoy. A short sprint and they are rewarded with a bag of goodies. The race is a fun event for all. This photo can be found on my Flickr site and hopefully more will be added later in the week.
Got a photo you would like featured, leave a comment with the details.
