I like not having a watch when I am not running. Why have one when I am running.

So, all of these folk who are pressing the start, will also press at the finish!

I love my Garmin, but I really only use it to help me establish how long a particular route is. I've got an older, cheaper model, so it's not terribly useful for telling me what pace I'm running at any particular moment. It seems to be able to give me a decent average pace, but I know that I've never run the five minute mile that my Garmin claims for me.
I always time my runs, but I've never once done it in a race. My race strategy is usually something like: "Run as fast as you can. Keep running until you're done." I know that's not necessarily the best strategy, but it's what I've got.
I don't run with music, so that's one less running gadget in my life.
