I have found a substitute in stability ball classes and aqua-robics.  See my blog about it.  http://rachaelsdaddy.wordpress.com/2008/01/01/my-saturday-triathalon-running-balancing-and-aquasocializing/
It may not be weight training but it is a great strength work out for the rest of the body.  Maybe one day I will find time for the weight room.
