NOVA got BAA to allow them to do this. Fair? That's a whole other question. You can also participate as part of a fundraising group like TNT so not everyone on that course is a blazing fast qualifier. It even states that on the Boston Marathon's website. If that's the case, how can the people in tonight's Nova episode be novices? They would have had to run at least one other marathon? Right?
