A deer took out a runner last July at the Rileys Rumble Half-Marathon in Poolesville, MD. We ran by a guy down, out of it, attended by medical personnel and thought the worst–heat prostration. Nope, Deer Crossing, trampled him, and he was in the hospital 3 days with a concussion.

Matt Tillinghast in the Freescale Marathon in 2006 was tackled by a deer when it tried to bandit the race.

You’ve gotta watch out for those deer. A similar thing happened to my wife when we were bike riding in South Carolina.
