Charity-o-Rama for February 11, 2007!

Posted by Filed Under: Charity & Fundraising

It’s a new week, and a new batch of fundraisers!

Charlie, aka ShoreTurtle—Running in and Around New Jersey is raising money for Special Olympics.

Charlie writes:

On February 24th, I will be joining several thousand people in a Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics. Over the past 14 years, this event has helped more than 15,000 athletes train and compete free-of-charge, year-round in 21 Olympic-type sports. This will be my 3rd year plunging. The running, in this case, is into the ocean and back out. The distance is short, but the dive into the frigid ocean can be brutal.

Yikes! And you thought you were cold! Donate to Charlie here.

Kristin, of 26.2milesToGo is busy raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Kristen says:

I haven’t run at all since cross country in high school (almost 10 years ago) but the folks at Team in Training have convinced me that I can run a marathon So I’m starting to train and starting to fundraise!

We know you can run a marathon, Kristen!

Visit Kristen’s fundraising page and give her a hand!

Another Team in Training runner, let’s hear it for Sara!

Sara is training for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in San Diego on June 3, 2007.

She says:

All of us on Team in Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I’m completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line—a cure!

Sara is raising $2,400 for Team in Training. Help her reach her goal, by donating here.

Stacy is Running for a CURE, as part of Team in Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Stacy says:

I am not a “runner.” Nor have I ever thought it would be fun to run 26.2 miles! But running for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society makes the journey worth it! With your support we can take an active part in finding a cure for all cancers.

Well, sorry to break it to you, but you’re a runner now, Stacy! Help Stacy raise funds here.
