Photos of the Week: N (ice) Run
Posted by Lee Miller D.C. Filed Under: Inspiration & Motivation, Photos
Here are some photos of Whitemud Creek (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) in the winter. The creek freezes over and is quite safe to run on after a few weeks of cold weather. These ice trails are shared by runners, cross country skiers, snowshoe enthusiasts and hikers. During good conditions the footing is similar to running on a lightly graveled road. Unfortunately, this year we have had quite a bit of snow which makes the footing uneven in some areas, which is tough on the ankles, knees, back and hips. The upside is that the scenery is worth it!

That is really beautiful! It usually looks like that here in D.C. by this time of year. Instead, we’ve got flowers blooming!
That’s great news for training! We generally thaw out in May or June in Edmonton.
