Featured Web Site: Christmas Running

Posted by Filed Under: Web Sites

This week I’m doing things a little differently. I did a google search on running, christmas to see what I could find. It resulted in over 37,000 pages, a lot of which were really not about running at all. I did find it interesting that my article for last week’s site was in the top 100 of the list. For today, I thought I would feature a few of the sites I found that might be of interest to runners at this time of year.

Christmas is almost a week away and if you’re anything like me this is a pretty busy time of year no matter how you slice it. It seems no matter how hard you try things seem to creep in and get in the way of training. So just how does one find a way to get out there? Do you let excuses such as shopping, parties, and such get in your way? Does the cold weather stop you from getting out there or is it perhaps an illness such as a cold, the flu and such that stop you from getting in that much needed run? The Forum over at Runner’s World offers some feedback to these questions from other runners. Stop by and see if your response is there or better yet post a comment here. Inquiring runners want to know.

Speaking of shopping. Perhaps someone out there is wondering what the runner in there life would like for Christmas. Here’s a forum, yes another one from Runner’s World with a list of what some runners want for Christmas. Feel free to add a comment here with your Christmas wish. Who knows, maybe someone out there you know will be reading this and grant your wish. Or if you’re loooking for ideas, About Running has a few suggestions over here.

Christmas is not only a busy season for some it can be depressing so just in case you need a little Christmas humor I found a couple of links to help with that as well. Check this link for a few cartoons of running & Christmas. Now if you want to see how Santa stays in shape for his annual Christmas trek head over here for a funny video of Santa running, etc.

Have a wonderful Holiday Season and Merry Christmas to all.

About Dawn - Pink Chick

For several years the only running I did was to run the annual 10k race in the spring. I got my best time when I ran hungover on only a few hours sleep. Finally one year I decided maybe I should really pick up running again on a regular basis and attended a running clinic. After finishing the 10k that year I continued to train and ran my first half marathon. That was in 2002. Later in 2002 I moved to Calgary where my running friends nick-named me Pink Lady, Pinko, Pinky and finally Pink Chick simply because I almost always wore pink when I ran. Truth be known I wear it almost all the time. I ran, well mostly walked, my first marathon in 2003. Since then I've run a ton of shorter 5/10k races, 9 half marathons and I added a second marathon in 2007 when I ran the San Diego RnR Marathon. Today I still run. I'm slow but I'm still out there and lovin' it. Someday I hope to join the Triathlon world.
