Photo of the Week: Paris Marathon

I’m always amazed at the number of participants who enter races. Some of you may not like crowds, but I do. For me it’s a thrill to be a part of that crowd and I love that all these people are out there running. I guess it’s not surprising that some of my favorite race photos are of the “running crowd” stretching as far as the eye can see.
The Marathon de Paris caps participants at 35,000 and already has over 5,000 runners registered for 2007. Wow! That’s like a whole city out there running.
I found this great shot of the Marathon de Paris 2006 among csakon’s France photostream over at his flicker site.
Looks to me like the Marathon de Paris would be an awesome race to run. April in Paris … hmmm … has a nice ring to it!

Great now I want to run it. And I was looking for an “excuse” to go back to Paris! See what you’ve done?
Wow, that is amazing and beautiful. I wonder how many volunteers they have.
Jessica, I’ve never been to Paris. If I did go, this would be an awesome way to see the city.
Laurie, I can’t imagine how many volunteers or the struggle they might have to meet their requirements. I’m on the committee for our marathon and every year we struggle to find just under a 1000 volunteers for a race of under 5000 participants.
Oh, it is mind-blowing to me. I never thought I would even dream of ever running a marathon, but now that has become one of my short-term ( 2 years) goals. Thanks for the inspiration. I found you through passionaterunner blog. Thanks Steve!
I’m running the Paris Marathon and I can’t wait, should be terrific, if anyone else is over there check my Paris Guide if you want to what to do while your there.
