Actually, “It takes very little ability to run a marathon in the 21st century, and even less training”

Just to clarify Aaron’s quote: It refers to how hard it is to be injured and not be able to train — to be left sidelined while watching friends keep on running.

It seems like Adeel’s article on “50 Marathons in 50 days in not Impressive” is the driving force behind SlowRunner’s comment. I can assure you that my quote was meant as Mark stated in his comment - in my opinion, being sidelined due to injury is much more difficult to cope with than the physical pain of training for the marathon.

I got the point of the quote.

I was taking the opportunity to be sarcastic about Adeel’s opinion that marathons are easy for anyone who runs them slowly. The direct contradiction of the first line of this quote and the first line of Adeel’s piece amused me, and I pointed it out.

Got something to say?
