Featured Website: 26.2 Miles vs Naomi

featured websiteIf you’re anything like me, you probably have at least 4 or 5 pairs of runners (that means “running shoes” for those of you in the U.S.) in your closet you will likely never run in again. There’s the pair you use when it’s raining like crazy, there’s the pair for those muddy trail races, a pair for short speedy runs, a pair for just hanging out with friends and then there’s your favorite pair for the perfect run. Aside from those there’s the pair you wore in your first marathon and can’t bare to just toss out. Or you might have a pair that you PR’d your last race in so you kept them. What are you gonna do with them? Get them bronzed like your first baby shoes? I think not (OK, so maybe some of you would).

senegal_map.gifNaomi over at 26.2 Miles vs Naomi has a better plan. She’s over in Dakar, Senegal, where many athletes run, play volleyball or soccer—all while wearing plastic sandals. They’d be thrilled to trade in their sandals for some used runners, and Naomi is on a quest to make it happen. She’ll be back in the U.S. later this month for a short visit and is hoping to take your old runners back with her.

Naomi has had some great response so far but really needs to hear from more men. She would also appreciate it if you would first wash the shoes in cold water and air-dry them prior to shipping. Please also tie the shoes together.

Her plan is to head back to Dakar at the end of September but an exact date has not been set. Check out her August 24th post for more details or email her at naomimsATgmail.com to find out the mailing address.
