Although the quality of the video could be better, this is a tremendous compilation of some of the best male runners who ever laced ‘em up, engaged in some of the finest moments in running history (it would be great to find one of these featuring women runners).
You are about to witness clips of Steve Prefontaine (one of my heroes), Billy Mills, Haile Gebrselassie, Paul Tergat, Lasse Viren and Hicham El Guerrouj, to name a few.
Besides the incredible speed these runners demonstrate, I am fascinated by their lightness of foot. It’s almost as though they effortlessly skip along the ground — much like a flat stone skips across water. Astounding.
Enjoy!

I cry every time I watch this. Oh for the days of those kind of commentators! The guy who called Billy Mills’ race–just gives me chills!
Very very inspiring. The last clip of Billy Mills coming from behind to win the 10,000-meter race was tremendous.
Mark, I actually had the pleasure of meeting Billy Mills, when he was filming, “Running Brave”. I was an extra in the Olympic 10000 race. The stories he told me about the workouts he was doing before the Olympics were incredible. If anyone knew how fit he was prior to the race, they wouldn’t have been surprised at his victory.
No kidding? Wow. That’s unreal to have met someone like him. That final burst he had in that race is outrageous. It actually looks like the BEGINNING of most people’s 100 meter dash!
